I love a good green smoothie , but this turmeric smoothie is the one I make when I’m craving something extra bright and refreshing. I love how the juicy oranges and sweet carrots balance the warm, peppery bite of fresh ginger and turmeric — it’s vibrant, lightly sweet, and has just enough spice to feel energizing without being overpowering.
What keeps me coming back to this one is how simple it is. The oranges give it that fresh, citrusy base, the carrots add body and color, and the ginger and turmeric bring depth and warmth. I always add a tiny pinch of black pepper to round out the flavor, then blend it up and enjoy it just as it is — though it’s easy to play around and make it your own if the mood strikes.

How much turmeric should I put in my smoothie?
The recipe calls for a 1-inch knob of turmeric (or 1 teaspoon of powdered turmeric). In our testing, we found this to be a good amount. Feel free to use more or less to taste!
Where can I buy fresh turmeric?
Fresh turmeric can sometimes be tricky to find. Look for it in the produce section of your grocery store, close to the ginger.

- ▢ 2 naval oranges (peeled and quartered)
- ▢ 1 medium carrot (chopped)
- ▢ 1 inch piece of ginger (peeled)
- ▢ 1 inch piece of turmeric (peeled – or 1 teaspoon powdered turmeric)

Instructions
- Add all the ingredients + 1 cup of ice cubes to a high-powered blender. 2 naval oranges, 1 medium carrot, 1 inch piece of ginger, 1 inch piece of turmeric, A pinch of black pepper
- Blend on high until smooth.
- Divide the turmeric smoothie between 2 glasses and serve right away.
