Calling all meat lovers – I’ve got a tomahawk pork chop recipe for you! Who can resist thick-cut, tender, flavor-packed chops that are oven-grilled to perfection? I’ve developed a honey-garlic sauce that turns out sticky and caramelized, almost like a glaze.
I’ll admit, I was intimidated the first time I tackled a tomahawk pork chop. The size alone seemed a bit daunting. But this oven-grilling method ensures it comes out perfectly every time. Let me show you how it’s done!
What is a tomahawk pork chop?
A tomahawk pork chop is a bone-in pork chop with a long exposed bone that looks like a handle (or tomahawk).
It is a bone-in pork ribeye, which is an extremely tender cut of meat. They are also known to be very flavorful and are a real treat!

Can I grill tomahawk pork chops?
Of course! Tomahawk pork chops are amazing when made on the BBQ. If it’s grilling weather where you are, you can certainly cook these outdoors. All you need to do is follow the recipe and baste the chops in the honey-garlic sauce a minute or two before you take them off the grill.
What to serve with this pork tomahawk recipe
I love these tomahawk pork chops served as a meat and potatoes meal with some simple greens. They’re delicious with my Creamy Cucumber Salad (you see it in the pictures). I also love them next to Sauteed Asparagus with Garlic and Parmesan . You can round out the meal with some Mashed Potatoes with Cream Cheese .
How to store leftovers
Once your tomahawk pork chop has cooled to room temperature, transfer it to an airtight container and refrigerate for 3-4 days. You can also freeze them for up to three months, then thaw in the fridge overnight before reheating.
Tip: I often cut the meat off the bone before storing it, as it makes reheating easier. Then, freeze the bone for the next time you make bone broth !
