Taco Fries on a serving platter topped with taco meat and cheese - 1

Do you remember those iconic taco salads piled high with lettuce, cheese, taco meat, sour cream, and salsa in a giant crispy shell? I took everything I love about that nostalgic classic and combined it with crispy French fries — and honestly, it might be even better this way.

These taco fries are endlessly versatile. I make them as a game-day snack, a fun appetizer, a side for taco night, or even as a full-on dinner when I want something hearty and comforting. With all the familiar taco fixings piled on top, they somehow feel both nostalgic and totally fresh at the same time.

This is one of my favorite recipes to serve when friends come over — I set it down and watch it disappear almost immediately. That said, I also make it for dinner more often than I probably should. Fries and tacos together? What’s not to love.

  • Family-approved: These taco fries are kid-approved! Just like burgers or pizza, taco fries are one of those recipes that will always result in excited, happy faces! It’s minimal effort with maximum reward.
  • Fridge clearer: Taco fries are one of those recipes that clean out the fridge—got odds and ends in the fridge? Taco fries to the rescue! Sweet potato? Roast it, and toss it in! Leftover salsa? Pile it on top! Some carrots? Grate them up, and scatter them on!
  • Ease: With just five minutes of prep time and simple instructions, this recipe will become a favorite back-pocket go-to on busy weeknights.
