Make all your pizza dreams come true with this sweet, spicy pizza sauce. It’s a rich tomato base that’s naturally smoky and sweet with the perfect amount of heat. Using only five ingredients, it’s easy to make, versatile, and freezes well, too!

I’m fully convinced that homemade pizza sauce makes all the difference. This sweet and spicy version is bold, balanced, and incredibly easy to make, with just a handful of pantry ingredients. It’s smooth, punchy, and brings way more personality to pizza night than anything from a jar.
I blend fire-roasted tomatoes with honey, sriracha, balsamic vinegar, and garlic granules, then season them simply with salt and pepper. The tomatoes add depth, the honey rounds everything out with a touch of sweetness, and the sriracha brings just enough heat to keep things interesting. The balsamic ties it all together with a subtle tang.
I love spreading this sauce over homemade pizza dough and finishing it with Tex-Mex–inspired toppings, but it works beautifully with just about anything. It freezes well, too, so I often make a double batch and stash some away for future pizzas—one of those small efforts that really pays off later.

Can I use regular tomatoes instead of fire-roasted?
You can, but the fire-roasted tomatoes add a touch of sweetness to the sauce. If you can’t find fire-roasted tomatoes, substitute diced tomatoes, then taste and adjust the seasonings accordingly.
How long does this pizza sauce last?
You can make this sauce and store it in a sealed jar in your fridge for up to 5 days.
Can I freeze this sauce?
Yes! This sweet and spicy pizza sauce freezes very well for at least 3 months. We love to use these reusable Stasher bags for storing sauces.
