This has to be THE easiest no churn salted caramel ice cream recipe ever! I have two time-saving tricks that mean your summer won’t be spent fretting over homemade caramel sauce AND you don’t have to scrape your ice cream every 30 minutes. And the result: irresistible, creamy, dreamy salted caramel ice cream!

Two words: Salted. Caramel. Need I say more? Life is better when you have a tub of delicious ice cream in the freezer. Whether it’s a warm day, a celebration, or just because, this salted caramel ice cream is exactly what you want to reach for this summer: It’s decadent, perfectly sweetened, and dreamy! No-churn methods usually involve tediously scraping the whole thing every half hour for a few hours to prevent freezer burn. Making homemade caramel sauce requires some time on the stovetop. But when it’s summertime, there are oceans to swim in, parties to plan, margaritas to drink, and burgers to flip – who has time to scrape ice cream every 30 minutes? Not me!

Two time-saving tips for no churn salted caramel ice cream
Rich, golden, buttery caramel is balanced with pops of salt, complementing and highlighting all the right notes. Caramel is like liquid gold, and it’s so very perfect with a creamy ice cream base.
Let’s be real about salted caramel ice cream though – it can be a bit tricky! I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to spend my summer trying not to burn caramel over the stove top, or dealing with ice crystals every 30 minutes.
That’s why I’ve got two super easy tricks to make this the simplest, most delicious ice cream:
- Whip it up: You might be familiar with the no-churn method that involves scraping up the ice crystals every 30 minutes, but sometimes, you’re just too busy enjoying summer for that. This is a no effort, no churn recipe, thanks to my ultimate no churn ice cream trick (aka whipping the cream!) This makes our dessert creamy without the need to scrape.
- Secret ingredient: I have a delicious shortcut for that salted caramel taste – I use an instant caramel cappuccino mix to incorporate the caramel flavor in layers, so you don’t have to fret over burning the caramel at the stove top like you with with homemade caramel sauce. You don’t even need to add sea salt – it’s already in there! I love a recipe with a simple ingredients list.

Toppings for salted caramel ice cream
While this no churn salted caramel ice cream is treat enough, there are always ingredients to top it off or mix in for those with an extra sweet tooth. Here are some of my top picks:
- Chocolate bliss: Stir in some chocolate chips or chunks over your bowl of ice cream for a salted caramel chocolate twist.
- Nutella : Take decadence to the next level by adding a dollop of Nutella, mixing through the swirls.
- Salted pretzels : Play off the saltiness and fold in some crushed salted pretzels for another layer of savory.
- Chopped nuts: Pecans, walnuts, or almonds add a little crunch.
- Cookies : Roughly break cookies into chunks and stir them in for a delicious treat. This works well with Oreos or chocolate chip cookies. A scoop of this is sure to make anyone’s day.
- Salted caramel sauce: Who can resist extra pour of salted caramel on their salted caramel ice cream?! Double up on the decadence!
- Coconut: Some shredded coconut adds texture and a little tropical undertone.
How do I store leftover no churn salted caramel ice cream?
You’ll want to store it in the freezer in a freezer-proof container. Something with a lid works well, like these ice cream containers . People often use a loaf pan, which they wrap well before freezing.
What do I serve with no churn salted caramel ice cream?
I love serving this alongside this chocolate lava cake , this chocolate souffle , or with some chocolate pie . Chocolate and salted caramel go so well together! Add an extra drizzle of caramel sauce and a sprinkle of some chopped nuts.
How long does the no churn salted caramel ice cream take to set in the freezer?
It usually takes around 3-4 hours in the freezer to set completely.
How long does no-churn ice cream last in the freezer?
I think the better question is, how quickly does everyone want to pull it out of the freezer?! If you’re storing this for a while, it’s best to keep it at the back of the freezer where it’s a bit colder. No churn ice cream recipes last for up to three months.
