These are my go-to when I’m hosting or heading to a potluck and want a guaranteed crowd-pleaser without being stuck in the kitchen all night.
Pulled pork is a dream for entertaining because the slow cooker does most of the work. I get the pork going early, then focus on a few easy upgrades that make a big difference. A quick bagel-seasoning butter brushed over the buns adds savory crunch and richness, while slicing a whole slab of Hawaiian rolls in half makes assembling the sliders fast and painless.
I never skip the chipotle mayo — that creamy smokiness plays perfectly with the tangy slaw and saucy pork. A quick five-minute bake at the end warms everything through and helps the flavors come together, so the sliders come out soft, toasty, and irresistible. Easy, low-effort, and always a hit.

How can I keep the sliders warm?
Cover your sliders with foil, pop them in the oven, and keep the light on—the oven will still retain some of the warmth from when you baked them earlier. Pull them out right before service. Just remember that cooked meat shouldn’t be left out longer than 2 hours. For a slightly more transportable option, you can also cut the sliders and wrap them individually in foil, popping them in the slow cooker on the warm setting before you travel. These work great as a make-ahead camping dinner or for game days.
How many pulled pork sliders per person?
The number of sliders you want to calculate per person depends on the other items you’re serving, so consider how many other appetizers or sides you have. If you’re serving these as an appetizer with other dishes, 2 per person would be safe. You’ll want 3-4 sliders per person if these are the main dish.

The Sliders
- ▢ 1 tablespoon butter
- ▢ 2 teaspoons bagel seasoning
- ▢ 12 Hawaiian dinner rolls
- ▢ ¾ cup chipotle mayo (see notes)
- ▢ 2 cups coleslaw (See notes)
- ▢ 3 cups pulled pork (recipe follows or use store-bought)
The Pulled Pork
- ▢ 1 3-4 lb boneless pork butt
- ▢ 1 ½ cup bbq sauce
- ▢ 1 cup broth
Spice Rub
- ▢ ¼ cup brown sugar
- ▢ 2 tablespoons smoked paprika
- ▢ 1 tablespoon EACH: garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, and salt
Instructions
The Sliders
- If you’re making the pulled pork, do that first. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Melt the butter in a small bowl in your microwave (or in a pan on the stove) and then stir in the bagel seasoning. 1 tablespoon butter, 2 teaspoons bagel seasoning
- Using a serrated knife, cut the rolls in half so that you have two large pieces. 12 Hawaiian dinner rolls
- Place the bun bottoms in a 9×11-inch baking dish. Spread the mayo on both sides of the rolls and then top with 3 cups of pulled pork and the coleslaw. ¾ cup chipotle mayo, 2 cups coleslaw, 3 cups pulled pork
- Put the bun tops on and then brush the tops with the butter. Cover with foil and bake for 5 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for 5 minutes more. Slice into individual slider sandwiches and serve right away.
The Pulled Pork
- Start by mixing the spice rub ingredients together in a small bowl. Remove the butcher twine from the pork and then cover it with the spices, working it into all the nooks and crannies. ¼ cup brown sugar, 2 tablespoons smoked paprika, 1 tablespoon EACH: garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, and salt, 1 3-4 lb boneless pork butt
- Place the pork in a slow cooker and add any remaining spices. Pour the BBQ sauce and broth into the slow cooker, cover with the lid, and turn the slow cooker on high for 5-6 hours or low for 8-10 hours. 1 ½ cup bbq sauce, 1 cup broth
- Remove the pork from the pot and pour the juices into a medium-sized pot. Bring the pot to a boil over high heat and continue to boil until the juices reduce to the thickness of BBQ sauce.
- Shred the pork using two forks and then put it in the pot with the reduced sauce. Mix it around and then serve!
