This cool and creamy mint tzatziki is a delicious Greek-inspired yogurt dip. It’s thick, tangy, and loaded with fresh mint, garlic, and the sunny taste of lemon. Simply stir the ingredients together in a bowl, and this versatile sauce is ready in 10 minutes!

This mint tzatziki is cool, creamy, and incredibly refreshing, with layers of bright, tangy flavor in every bite. Thick yogurt gives it a rich, smooth base, while grated cucumber adds a clean, crisp freshness. Garlic brings just enough bite, lemon juice adds a lively tang, and the mint is what really sets it apart — light, aromatic, and ultra-refreshing without overpowering the sauce. The result is a perfectly balanced dip that tastes vibrant and fresh.
It’s one of those sauces that gets even better as it sits, giving the flavors time to meld and mellow. After a few hours in the fridge, the garlic softens, the mint becomes more fragrant, and everything tastes beautifully cohesive. I love it as a dip for grilled peppers , spooned over rice, served alongside grilled lamb , or spread on wraps, sandwiches, and burgers. Stored in an airtight container, it keeps well in the fridge for at least 5 days — if it lasts that long.

Tips for making the best homemade tzatziki
Making tzatziki at home is simple but here are a few tips we’ve learned along the way:
- Use thick, plain, Greek-style yogurt for its wonderful creamy texture.
- Use seedless cucumbers or remove the seeds. We use mini cucumbers because they don’t have seeds. The seeds add too much moisture and take away from the creaminess.
- After grating the cucumbers, drain as much of the moisture as possible. You can do this with your hands, or use a tea towel or paper towel to squeeze out more of the liquid.
- Mince the garlic with a microplane or similar tool so it’s grated really finely.

- ▢ 1-2 cloves garlic (grated with a microplane)
- ▢ ¼ teaspoon sea salt
