These matcha energy balls are one of my favorite easy snacks to keep on hand. They’re made with just a few simple ingredients, require no baking at all, and store beautifully in the fridge or freezer, which makes them perfect for busy days. Plus, they come together quickly in a food processor with very little hands-on time.
I love the earthy flavor of matcha, and it really shines here alongside rolled oats, almond flour, cashew butter, coconut, and honey. The matcha adds a subtle bitterness and that vibrant green color, while the honey binds everything together and the cashew butter keeps the flavor smooth and balanced. After a quick chill, I roll the mixture into bite-sized balls—sometimes finishing them with a little honey or shredded coconut, though they’re just as good plain.
These are the kind of snack I like to stash in the freezer and grab whenever I need something easy. They’re great for lunches, hikes, travel days, or anytime I want a simple, satisfying bite that’s ready to go.

Helpful tips
Making these matcha energy balls is easy, but here are a few helpful tips so they turn out awesome every time:
- Use a food processor or a high-speed blender so everything gets well mixed. You may need to scrape down the sides once or twice.
- If your energy balls aren’t sticking together, add more cashew butter (one teaspoon at a time) until they hold together when rolled.
- For an extra sweet treat, try adding some white chocolate chips . Matcha and white chocolate pair wonderfully together.
How to store
What’s the best way to store them? I recommend storing them in a covered container in your fridge. You can enjoy them cold, or let them sit on your counter for a few minutes to come to room temperature. They’ll keep in your fridge for up to 2 weeks.
Can I freeze them? Definitely! I like to make a big batch and freeze some for later. Store them in a sealed container for up to 3 months. Thaw them at room temperature when you’re ready to enjoy them!
