two glasses filled with lemonade with blueberry syrup - 1

Cool down with this homemade lemonade with a fun blueberry twist. It’s the perfect drink for hot summer days, berry season, and picnics, and it comes together much faster than you might expect. This tangy-sweet blueberry lemonade is made with a simple blueberry syrup, fresh lemon juice, and water, and the flavor is bright, refreshing, and incredibly summery.

To make it, fresh blueberries are simmered with sugar and water until they burst and release their deep purple juices, creating a fruity syrup that’s both sweet and vibrant. That syrup gets poured over ice, then stirred together with plenty of freshly squeezed lemon juice and cold water for a perfectly balanced lemonade. Blueberries are available most of the year in some places, but this recipe really shines when they’re in season and at their juiciest. Make a double or triple batch of the syrup and keep it in the fridge so you can quickly mix up a pitcher anytime the temperature climbs—everyone will be reaching for seconds.
