If I’m craving something sweet and refreshing to sip all summer long, this hibiscus lemonade is it. It’s a bright, sweet-tart twist on classic lemonade, and if you love hibiscus lemonade from Starbucks or Chipotle—or you’re familiar with agua de jamaica—you’re going to be very happy with this homemade version.

Hibiscus flowers have a deep ruby color and a naturally tart, fruity, slightly floral flavor that reminds me a bit of cranberry or pomegranate. I steep the dried flowers with honey to make a concentrated hibiscus syrup , then mix it with fresh lemon juice and cold water. The result falls between lemonade and hibiscus iced tea: floral, tangy, and incredibly refreshing without being overly sweet.

Hibiscus is commonly used in drinks across Mexico and tropical regions, and for good reason—it makes beverages feel vibrant and cooling, even on the hottest days. With just water, honey, hibiscus flowers, and fresh lemon juice, this lemonade is simple to make, beautiful to serve, and endlessly drinkable.
