Have a Moscow mule on the brain, but all you have at home is gin? Enter the gin mule. It’s crisp and refreshing, with the perfect ginger zing! You’ll love this twist on the classic!

A Gin Mule next to a bottle of gin - 1

The gin mule is one of my favorite afternoon sippers on a hot day. It has everything I love about a classic Moscow mule — bright citrus, spicy ginger, and lots of fizz — but swapping vodka for gin adds a little more depth and character. It’s crisp, refreshing, and incredibly easy to drink.

I usually make it with a good pour of gin, freshly squeezed lime juice for that sharp citrus pop, and cold ginger beer to bring the bite. The ginger beer is key here, adding bubbly heat and keeping the drink lively without being heavy. Copper mugs are fun if you have them, but a tall glass works just as well and keeps things simple.

From start to finish, this drink takes about five minutes, making it perfect for last-minute happy hours or easy entertaining. I like to finish mine with fresh mint, a lime wedge, or a few shavings of ginger — totally optional, but they add a little extra aroma and make the whole thing feel just a bit more special.
