Fajita seasoning is incredibly easy to make at home using party staple spices. The flavor is so much better than store-bought, and there are no sugar or hard-to-pronounce ingredients. It lasts for a long time in your pantry so you can make a big batch!

Homemade fajita seasoning is always the way to go. When you make it yourself, you control exactly what goes in—so you can skip spices you don’t love and adjust the heat to suit your taste. Want it spicy? Add more cayenne. Prefer it mild? Leave it out. Best of all, the flavor is fresher, bolder, and far better than anything you’ll find in a store-bought packet.

Another bonus? It takes just a couple of minutes to mix, and you can make a larger batch to keep on hand. Once it’s in your pantry, quick fajita nights get even quicker—just sprinkle, cook, and dinner’s done.

If you love making your own spice blends , I have tons for you to choose from. Another Tex-Mex favorite of mine is my taco seasoning .

How to use fajita seasoning

We use 1 tablespoon of fajita seasoning per pound of meat.

But this seasoning mix is so delicious that it can easily be used to spice up many dinners. Here are a few of our favorite ways to use this spice mix:

  • In chili. Try it in our favorite steak chili or easy vegetarian chili recipes. It’s delicious in both!
  • Tacos. It’s especially good to flavor the meat in ground beef tacos.
  • Baked chicken. We sometimes use this seasoning mix on our juicy baked chicken thighs or our perfect baked chicken breasts . Yum!
