Make these Cajun sweet potato fries over store-bought fries

We know, sometimes all you want to do is rip open a bag of store-bought fries and call it done – but – this Cajun sweet potato fries recipe will surpass any store-bought fry for these reasons:

  1. Easy-peasy : It’s so simple to make sweet potato fries and the majority of the time it takes to make them is oven time.
  2. Flavor is king (or queen ): The Cajun spices on these fries are a whole other ball game. You will devour them, your kids will devour them, and your guests will devour them. But wait! Then, you dip them in a blue cheese sauce (or the sauce of your liking) and it’s – chef’s kiss!

Ingredients needed

Here’s what you’ll need to make Cajun sweet potato fries :

  • Sweet potatoes : Cut 2 sweet potatoes into ¼-inch strips to form your fries. They should all be pretty uniform so that they cook at the same rate.
  • Cajun seasoning : Follow this recipe to make your own Cajun seasoning , or use a store-bought Cajun spice blend. Note that if you go with store-bought you won’t be able to control the spice or salt levels.
  • Olive oil : Douse your fries in some olive oil before popping them into the oven to help them crisp up.

Are Cajun sweet potato fries spicy?

There is some spice to a Cajun spice blend, but it won’t blow your head off. If you make the Cajun seasoning yourself, you can control how hot it will be. If you use a store-bought Cajun blend, you won’t be able to test how spicy it is until you’re ready to use it.

I don’t like blue cheese, what other dip can I use?

If blue cheese isn’t your thing, you can always pair these Cajun sweet potato fries with a creamy avocado sauce , chipotle mayo , or this cilantro lime ranch dressing .

Can I make Cajun sweet potato fries in the air fryer?

You sure can! Follow the recipe until it’s time to cook. At that point, put your air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and add the sweet potato fries in a single layer. Work in batches if needed, because you’ll want to leave some space between them. Cook for 10-12 minutes, flipping once.
